VEHARI: Governor Chaudhry Sarwar says that south Punjab province will be founded as per the manifesto of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI).

He told reporters in Mailsi on Thursday that health, education, rule of law, merit, accountability and eradication of corruption were government’s top priorities.

“Our main objective is to promote exports and discourage imports to minimize the trade deficit. He said that he was fully aware of deteriorating standard of education in universities.

“Our medical degrees are not accepted abroad. Pakistan needs to work hard to improve education standard if it wants to compete with the world,” he said. He said that he would resolve universities’ issues, including the appointments of vice-chancellors, deans and professors.

Pakistan has one of the largest and fastest growing youth populations in the world, which means it has become more crucial than ever that the country invests in higher education, he said, adding that it was encouraging that Pakistan was taking measures to improve its universities but academicians say that progress has been slow. He said universities would be put on solar energy.

He said that the PTI govt taking measures to improve the economy of the country on a priority basis. He said the past rulers were responsible for economic crisis of the country. He said the people of Pakistan would feel relief after a few months.

Earlier, Mr Sarwar condoled with Provincial Minister for Transport Jahanzaib Khichi on the death of his mother.

Vehari Deputy Commissioner Arfan Ali Kathia and District Police Officer Atif Ikram were also present.

Also, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi visited the residence of Khichi and condoled with him the death of his mother.
