KARACHI: Three youths died from inhaling smoke inside a house in Shah Faisal Colony early on Monday morning.

Shah Faisal Colony SHO Tanvir Shah said that electricity had gone off in the area and the residents ran a generator inside a room and slept. The smoke emanating from the generator filled the room and all three persons died from inhaling smoke. The area SHO ruled out the possibility of any foul play behind the tragic death of three youths.

The bodies were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre to fulfil legal formalities.

The dead were identified as Mohammed Raza, 17, Mohammed Rizwan, 22, and Mohammed Arsalan.

Two of them were labourers while the third one was a nephew of the owner of the house.

The SHO said that since it was an accident, no case had been registered.

Guard shot dead in Gulshan

A private security guard was shot dead in Gulshan-i-Iqbal early on Monday morning, Mobina Town police said.

They added that the guard, Murad Hussain, 40, was posted at a petrol station near a supermarket in Block 3 when a suspect arrived there. After a brief chat and an exchange of hot words, the gunman opened fire on him and fled. The victim sustained a single bullet wound on a hand, which travelled through his body and proved fatal, said the area SHO, Abu Umair.

The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hosp­ital to fulfil legal formalities.

The officer said the murder appeared to be the outcome of some personal enmity. However, he added that the victim’s brother had lodged an FIR against the unknown killer.

The investigators were trying to obtain the CCTV footage from the fuel station to identify the suspect.
