LAHORE: A young man died after the string of a stray kite slit his throat in Bhati Gate area late on Friday.

Faisal, 30, was returning home on his motorcycle when the string of a stray kite slit his throat, leaving him in a pool of blood, the police said quoting witnesses. He was rushed to the Mayo Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

His family and other relatives blamed the police for the death alleging that the citizens blatantly violated Section 144 imposed by the government during the last three days or so. They alleged that hundreds of citizens were seen flying kites in the city, particularly in the Walled City and adjoining areas.

They alleged that the business of selling strings and kites in the Walled City was going on unchecked.

KILLED: A woman died after a pistol went off accidentally by her younger brother in Raiwind area on Saturday.

According to police, Abdul Rehman, 16, of Sarwar Hayyat Colony was cleaning the pistol when it went off and a bullet hit his sister, Mehwish. She was taken to a local hospital where doctors pronounced her dead.

The police said though the family claimed it an incidental death, the body has been shifted to the city morgue for autopsy.

Action would be taken once the investigation was completed, the police said.
