LAHORE: A large number of people thronged hockey stadium at Nishtar Complex on Saturday to see the mega Azadi concert organised by the Lahore Development Authority in connection with the Independence Day celebrations.

The concert, which started at 6pm and concluded in late hours, was organised under the theme of nation-building with peace and prosperity of the country.

“There were six enclosures namely Punjab, Balochistan, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhawa, Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir. The people paid Rs100 (each) to the designated branches of Bank of Punjab and got tickets. The entire revenue generated by this event will go to the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s fund for the construction of Diamer Bhasha and Mohmand dams,” said a spokesman for the LDA.

He said the people kept chanting slogans of Pakistan Zindabad during the proceedings. Famous singers and artists performed on the occasion, he added.
