PESHAWAR: Two people sustained minor injuries when a remote-controlled bomb targeted an official vehicle of a Provincial Disaster Management Authority’s officer in the Dir Colony area on the outskirts of the city here on Friday, police said.

The incident took place in the limits of Yakatut police station at around 8:45am. The bomb planted on a motorbike targeted the vehicle leaving the area.

A police official identified the officer as Mohammad Shakil, PDMA’s deputy director training and evaluation.

The official said the blast injured two people identified as Wadan Gul and Latifur Rehman. He said Wadan Gul was driving the vehicle, while the other was a passerby. The injured were taken to hospital where they were discharged after treatment.

The police official said that Counter-Terrorism Department had registered an FIR and started investigations.

A senior police officer told Dawn that the PDMA official was the apparent target of the attack. He said they were investigating the attack from various angles.

He said the bomb was a locally-made device and weighed around three kilogrammes.
