Keeping everything in its place is a skill that not all of us have. And it is just impossible to get everything in order sometimes — the more you clear the clutter from your bed and writing desk, there is still lot that needs to be placed in the right place, such as handouts, stationary items and every day notes.

To organise your scattered school supplies, let us show you how to make a three-tier desk organiser from empty cereal boxes.

Things you need:

  1. Cereal boxes (three)

  2. Wrapping paper (one)

  3. Coloured papers (optional)

  4. Scissors

  5. White glue/hot glue

  6. Ruler

  7. Marker

  8. Decorative material

Directions:

  1. Start by taking one cereal box and pasting glue on one side. Paste another cereal box on to it to attach the boxes together. You can make the organiser from two boxes but I used three; see pictures 2 and 3.

  2. When dry, cut the upper flaps of the boxes to give it a neat shape, as in pictures 4 and 5.

  3. Mark four-inches (minimum), from the bottom of the boxes’ side all the way to the front of the box, picture 6.

  4. Continue the line to other side of the box and then make a diagonal line all the way up to the corner of the box. Repeat drawing the diagonal line on the other side; picture 7.

  5. Cut where you have marked the diagonal line from both sides of the boxes from one end to the other, picture 8.

  6. Cut the centrepieces of the boxes to align evenly with the diagonal sides, pictures 9 and 10.

  7. Paste any wrapping paper around the now complete three-tier organiser, picture 11 and 12.

  8. You can either use the same wrapping paper in the centre or use papers of different like I did to make it more interesting, picture 13.

  9. Decorate anyway you like.
