Umar Amin replaces injured Malik for fifth ODI against New Zealand

Left-handed batsman Umar Amin was drafted into the ODI squad in place of all-rounder Shoaib Malik who had sustained an injury during the fourth ODI against New Zealand in Hamilton.
"Shoaib Malik is doing better after sustaining a delayed concussion during the last ODI in Hamilton. However, he has not made a full recovery to be available for selection in the Wellington ODI," said Pakistan team physiotherapist Vib Singh.
Amin is already available in Wellington as he is a part of the T20 squad.
Pakistan have lost the first four ODIs of the five-match series against Kiwis while the fifth is scheduled to begin in a few hours.

it wouldn't matter even if they played with 10 players or 12.

@Shakeel Ahmed I would say even they field and bat with their combined T20 and ODI squad, the result will be the same -another loss. secondly how on earth is Shoaib Malik called all-rounder who never bowls.
I would accept him as all-rounder if it meant not able to do anything from batting to bowling and fielding.

@FR Canada< get your facts straight. With ODI batting average of over 35 in 250 matches and over 150 wickets, is he still not an allrounder?

Pakistan has to change old style cricket and pitches and have to improve service structure of domestic cricket and improve in sheild cricket like Australia., and then you will see the result .

@M.Saeed
Allrounder or not, he was always a lower order batsman who played primarily as a bowler. So, how is it that he is playing as a batsman now? Regardless of his batting average, he does not have the skills to be considered a batsman and therefore, will never be a dependable batsman.

I am absolutely flabbergasted in the fact that Pakistani batsmen cannot play the scope shot. Nearly every other international batsman plays that shot against short pitched balls, but none of our batsmen even try that much less successfully execute it. Same goes for yorker deliveries, no bowler bowls it anymore and as a result the opposing batsmen know it and can play freely knowing it is the same length the bowlers are going to bowls so have a blast.

I just turned off the TV. The last of Pak-NZ series match I watched. 28 runs in FIRST 3 overs by NZ.!!! It will be less embarrassing to call the boys back than to complete the tour..

@FR Canada: You are right, Shoaib Malik is not all rounder but an utility player, just like Hafeez. These utility players are cause for Pakistan to lose matches, as they occupy a batsman place when Pakistan should have good, aggressive batsman with high first class (List A for ODI) average. Pakistan do not need 10 players who are in the team because they can occasionally ball too.
Ideally, for ODIs, Pakistan should have 5 good, aggressive batsmen with high list A 'average and SR'. just for emergency need, one of the 5 batsmen could be all rounder, that is all. Job of getting required runs should be of those 5 batsmen and wicket keeper batsman (w/k has to be reasonable batsman too).
If bowlers keep the opponent below 310 ... batsmen should be able to get the target (5 batsmen and w/k together should make at least 90 percent of target runs within first 45 over ... or score around 280 within 45 overs if batting first), else there is problem in batting line up.

@Mir What old style cricket? Every home team is making pitches suitable to them except Pakistan who have played all there game away from home.If players are out of form it was not needed to wait till 4th ODI to bring in Harish Sohail,Yamin,Nawaz.Should have tried them from 1st or 2nd ODI not in 5th ODI.On another note Imaad Wasim,Junaid Khan.Shenwari should have been in first line up whenever they are available for national duty.Pakistan need to curtail some club T20 cricket around the world where players are breaking at national duty.

There you go, another pawwaa player. We lot 5-0 and I am totally satisfied because our team does not deserve to beat team like New Zealand who pick players based on talent and not the basis of Province

Hope Maik gets better soon. However, I think it is time for Malik and Hafeez to retire and give youngsters a chance. Their performance in the ODIs against New Zealand was below below expectation. Please retire.
