LAHORE: PML-Q leaders Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi on Friday appeared before a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) investigation team to submit questionnaires given to them by the bureau.

A three-member NAB team had summoned the PML-Q leaders in a case of owning assets disproportionate to their known sources of income worth over Rs2.43 billion after references against them were approved by new NAB chairman Javed Iqbal. The case was filed against the Chaudhrys 12 years ago. Its investigation had been suspended during former president retired Gen Pervez Musharraf’s rule after they entered into an alliance with him.

The Chaudhry brothers appeared before the NAB team and submitted their filled questionnaires comprising 50 questions about the details of purchase and sale of their properties.

The questions included details of assets in and outside the country, businesses, income and expenses, details of bank loans, accounts and credit cards. They were also asked to furnish the details of all elections they had contested and expenses incurred on election campaigns.

The NAB had earlier contacted the Lahore deputy commissioner, excise department, Lahore Development Authority director general, deputy commissioners of Sheikhupura and Gujranwala to obtain details of assets of the two leaders and their children. The details were now being matched with the answers submitted by Hussain and Elahi.

Both the leaders had earlier appeared before the NAB Lahore in November also and recorded their statements.
