LAHORE: Test discard fast bowler Muhammad Sami appeared before the Pakistan Cricket Board Anti-Corruption Department (ACD) here on Friday to answer to questions regarding some spot-fixing scandal. However, the department has not issued any show cause notice to the bowler as yet.

Sami was also playing for Islamabad United (IU) in the Pakistan Super League-2017 in which four players were arrested on spot-fixing charges. They are Khalid Latif, Sharjeel Khan, Shahzaib Hasan and Muhammad Irfan. Both Sharjeel and Khalid had served a five-year ban each. Sharjeel’s ban could be reduced to half if he maintains discipline. But Khalid will have to complete the ban.

Another Test-discarded player, Nasir Jamshed is said to be the main brain behind the scam, monitoring it from England. However, Sami’s name has come afore for the first time in that scandal. Sami was specially flown in from Bangladesh, where he is playing in the ongoing BPL, to appear before the ACD.

The PCB has also given Sami an NOC to play in the upcoming inaugural session of the T10 League being held in UAE this month.

The PCB legal department in charge, Salman Naseer said Sami was called by the ACD to answer some questions, and added the department will soon take a decision whether to issue the bowler a show-cause notice.
