ISLAMABAD: The Sihala police have registered a case against the owners of a pharmaceutical company for delaying the payment of Rs1.5 billion to a Chinese drug supplier.

According to the FIR, the vice general manager of the company in a complaint to the police alleged that they had supplied clarithromycin worth $15.6 million to the firm located at Kahuta Road, Islamabad, about two years ago. Clarithromycin is used to treat bacterial infections affecting the skin and respiratory system.

The complainant alleged that two shipments on September 13 and November 4, 2015, were sent to the company on the credit period of three months. The company paid $500,000 as an initial payment but did not make further payments.

Police investigation officer Sultan Mehmood told Dawn that though an FIR had been registered none of the officials of the company could be contacted on their phone numbers provided by the complainant. “I am planning to visit the office of the company to probe the matter,” he added.
