Hot, dry weather to persist

KARACHI: Winds from the north /northwest blew into the city during the day, bringing in the hot continental air that pushed the mercury on the scale to 36.4 degrees Celsius on Monday. According to a Met official, similar weather conditions are expected on Tuesday as well.

Responding to Dawn, the Met official said that the sea breeze was not blowing during the day which raised the temperature. However, the sea breeze resumed during the evening making the weather pleasant.

He said that minimum temperature recorded in the metropolis on Monday was 26.3 degrees Celsius and humidity — the amount of humidity in the atmosphere — in the evening was 59 per cent.

He said that the weather in the city on Tuesday was expected to remain hot and dry with maximum temperature remaining between 37 and 39 degrees Celsius.

According to the official, by and large the hot and dry weather prevailed over most parts of the province on Monday. Nawabshah was the hottest town in Sindh where the mercury touched the mark of 42.5 degrees Celsius. Some other towns in the province where high temperatures were recorded on Monday were: Chhor (42.2 degrees Celsius); Hyderabad and Dadu (41.5 degrees); Mirpurkhas and Mithi (40); Larkana, Moenjodaro and Sukkur (39.5); and Badin (38).
