LANDI KOTAL: A mortar shell fired from Afghanistan killed a woman and injured a boy in Shamsai border village in the Loe Shalman area on Friday, security officials said.

Khasadar officials said the stray mortar hit the house of Muhammad Said, damaging the structure. His wife was buried alive and son Naqeeb Khan injured.

Security forces and officials of the political administration retrieved the body and injured boy from the rubble of the house. The boy was admitted to a local hospital.

Separately, the customs staff at the Torkham border seized 1,176 bags of urea from a rice truck on Friday. The officials said that the seizure was made on information about the smuggling of urea to Afghanistan.

They said urea bags weighing 58,800kg were concealed under the rice bags.
