RAHIM YAR KHAN: A pack of stray dogs mauled a five-year-old girl to death at Chak 124-NP in Liaqatpur tehsil, some 70 kilometres from here, on Tuesday.
Feroza police Station House Officer (SHO) Muhammad Aslam told this correspondent that five-year-old Bushra, daughter of Ashiq Rasool, was playing outside her house in the evening when she was attacked by stray dogs.
She was severely injured and was being shifted to local Rural Health Centre when she succumbed to her injuries.
The SHO said the victim’s family did not file any complaint with the police and buried the girl.
MPA Mian Islam Aslam blamed PML-N union council chairman Jam Akbar for the incident, alleging he failed to destroy stray dogs in the area with the help of local health authorities.
He said that in June 2015 three minors were mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs at Chak 66-A.
The MPA said he would raise the issue of negligence of officials and the chairman in the Punjab Assembly.
Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Akhtar Mandhera did not reply to the calls and text message by this scribe to give his version.
