LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has been asked to allow litigant parents to meet their children at homes instead of the guardian courts in the wake of deteriorating law and order situation and security threats to state institutions especially.

Advocate Fahad Ahmad Siddiqi has made the request in a public interest petition contending that meeting on court premises is not in the welfare of minors. He says meetings of minors with parents should preferably be held on the premises of parents to strengthen a healthy relationship.

However, he says, only in exceptional cases, guardian court can be chosen as a venue for which detailed reasons should be cited.

The lawyer pleads that in view of emergency situation of law and order prevailing in Lahore, the LHC registrar be directed to issue a circular in order to arrange visitation of the minors at home instead of the guardian courts at least for a period of two months.
