RAWALPINDI: Due to security threat, the district administration has decided to keep weekly bazaar in the garrison city closed on Sunday.

Three weekly bazaars are held every Sunday at Committee Chowk, Haideri Chowk and Shamsabad where people are provided fruit, vegetable and edibles at reasonable rates.

The special branch of police pointed out that terrorists may take advantage of the rush at the bazaars, and therefore the bazaar should not be held this Sunday.

When contacted, Assistant Commissioner Maleeha Jamal said the weekly bazaar would not open this Sunday keeping in view the recent security alert in the twin cities.

She said the decision had been taken to avoid any untoward situation. However, she said for the next week, the decision would be made after going through fresh reports of the law enforcement agencies.
