Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Wednesday met Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan at the General Headquarters (GHQ) to discuss the situation along the Line of Control, the Army's media wing said in a statement.

The Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor, stated in a tweet that the army chief had assured the AJK PM that the army is fully prepared to respond to "all types of threat from across".

Haider thanked General Bajwa for the military's contributions in improving the security situation and facilitating development in AJK, particularly in the fields of education, health and communication infrastructure.

Meeting with UAE ambassador

In a separate meeting, the COAS also met the ambassador of United Arab Emirates to Pakistan, Essa Abdulla Al Basha Al Noaimi, at the GHQ.

During the meeting, General Bajwa condoled the death of UAE nationals who were killed in bombings in Afghanistan's Kandahar city.

He appreciated the ambassador's efforts in improving Pak-UAE cooperation in various fields, thanking him for the UAE's contributions to various development projects in the Federally Administered Tribal Aareas and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

The UAE ambassador to Pakistan returned the sentiment, appreciating Pakistan Army's efforts to fight terrorism and militancy in the region, the ISPR said.
