QUETTA: The Inspector General of Frontier Corps, Balochistan, Major General Nadeem Ahmed Anjum, said on Tuesday that peace was necessary for development and prosperity in the province.
Talking to social and tribal notables at the FC headquarters in Sibi, he said that some people were trying to create trouble in Balochistan from abroad. However, he added, such elements could never be successful in implementing their nefarious designs because people of the country wanted peace and development. He said those who were trying to create trouble in the province with the help of enemy countries would face frustration.
He said for the establishment of peace in the province, people and the army were on the same page. People of the province and tribal elders had worked shoulder to shoulder with security forces for improving the law and order situation, he added.
He said the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor would prove to be a game-changer for the economy of the country, adding that the project would bring numerous economic opportunities not only for Balochistan, but also for the whole region. He said many countries, including Saudi Arabia, Iran and Russia, had expressed their desire to become part of this project.
He said the army with the help of people had made the country’s defence impregnable. “The enemy cannot launch a direct attack on Pakistan and, therefore, it is now funding elements within the Pakistani society to destabilise the country,” he added. He said peace and education were necessary for development and prosperity.
