KHUZDAR: A police constable was killed and another injured late on Thursday when a checkpost came under a grenade attack in Mastung, some 50km off Quetta, police said.

Two unidentified men on a motorbike hurled the grenade into the police checkpost near the Bakra Mandi area of Mastung and fled. The grenade went off, hitting the personnel.

“As result of the explosion one constable was killed and another sustained serious injuries,” they said.

Law enforcement agencies personnel shifted the deceased and the injured to Mastung Civil Hospital.

“Constable Abdul Mutlib died on the spot while Shah­nwaz was wounded. He is being treated in the hospital,” doctors at the facility said.

No group claimed responsibility for the attack. Police registered an FIR against unidentified attackers and started investigation.
