QUETTA: Three kidnappers were killed and a kidnapped trader was recovered by police after a clash in the Roghani area of Chaman on Tuesday evening.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police Aitzaz Goraya, a search operation was carried out with the support of Qilla Abdullah Levies to rescue the trader.

“Three kidnappers were killed in an exchange of fire and the trader was rescued from captivity,” said the SSP, adding that the authorities had received the information that the kidnappers were hiding in a house in the area.

The trader, Abdul Ahad, was kidnapped in mid-October from near the Quetta city police station.

He had handed over Rs6 million to the kidnappers but they had sought more money for his release.

The kidnappers killed in the encounter were identified as Abdullah, Mohammad Naeem and Char Gull. Two of them were residents of Chaman and one was from Quetta.

The police officer said weapons were seized from the kidnappers’ hideout.
