LAHORE/GUJRANWALA: The Punjab Food Authority has accelerated its crackdown against mills preparing substandard ghee and cooking oil in Punjab.

PFA DG Noorul Amin Mengal conducted a raid on the production unit of a known cooking oil making company at the Quid-i-Azam Industrial Estate, Kot Lakhpat, and imposed a fine of Rs 1,000,000 for having rusted and non- graded food machinery, poor sanitation and presence of spider nets at storage place.

The PFA asked the unit management to stop production for one week and improve the setup.

In Gujranwala, Director Operations Rafia Haider conducted a raid on a known ghee and cooking oil manufacturing factory in Eminabad and sealed it for want of Halal certificate, posting an unqualified nutritionist and using non-food grade colours.

A PFA team in Rawalpindi raided a godown storing substandard cooking oil and sealed it after seizing 3,150 liters of oil.
