PESHAWAR: The Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday organised a train trip from Peshawar to Attock Khurd in collaboration with the Pakistan Railways.

According to a news release issued here, participants of the tour included the activists of International Women Club and civil society, children, youths and journalists. The women participants were taken from Peshawar to Attock Khurd through the old Victorian railway station built in 1880.

MPA and parliamentary secretary Fauzia Bibi was the chief guest on the occasion. He was also part of the train journey. Besides, TCKP managing director Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, TICs GM Ali Syed, TCKP consultant Zahoor Durrani and others were also present at the opening of the train trip.

As part of the joy ride, passengers had live instrumental music.

A number of fun-filled recreational activities including kite flying, camel ride, tug of war, uphill race and archery contests were arranged at the river bank.

Attock Khurd located in Attock district of Punjab houses the historical Attock Fort built by Mughal king Akbar in 1581. Bahram ki Baradari is another Mughal-era monument situated at the ridge of mountains on the southern side of the GT Road near Attock Khurd.

“We provided women with a unique opportunity to avail themselves of an outing while telling them about the rich heritage of the country,” TCKP managing director Mushtaq Ahmad Khan said.
