GUJRAT: The Jhelum police have registered a case against British woman of Pakistan origin Samia Shahid who was killed in the name of honour in July last, on charges of fraud and presenting fake documents of her second marriage.

Samia’s second husband Mukhtar Kazim and two others were also booked in the same case on Friday.

Haq Nawaz, the maternal uncle of the deceased, alleged in a case lodged with the Mangla police station that Samia married his nephew Shakil in their native village of Pandori near Dina, Jhelum back in 2012. She returned Pakistan in July 2016 to meet her parents where, according to him, she died of natural causes on July 20.

Three days later, Mukhtar Kazim appeared with a claim of being husband of Samia and presented fake documents of marriage to the local authorities. He said since Samia had been a wife of Shakil, both Samia and Mukhtar with the help of two other suspects Syed Abbas and Zalak Shah prepared fake documents of divorce and marriage in the UK that had already been declared fake by the British authorities.

Police have registered a case against four people including Samia and Mukhtar under sections 420, 468 and 471 of PPC. Police said the case had been registered on the orders of the sessions judge.
