Police officer gunned down in Peshawar

A police officer was gunned down on Friday in the Faqirabad area of Peshawar. In a separate incident, five hand grenades were recovered in the city's Mattani area, according to the police.

The police officer, identified as Rehmanullah, had been deployed at Faqirabad police station and was targeted by unidentified armed assailants as he was returning home from a vegetable market.

The deceased was an ex-serviceman hired by police for the Special Police Force on contract following his retirement.

Separately, the police recovered five hand grenades in the Mattani suburbs of Peshawar during a search operation.

According to Additional Inspector General Bomb Disposal Squad, the grenades were recovered from fields near the police station in Mattani and were defused successfully.

It is becoming a routine to read news of killing police officers, security personnel or civilians killed by unidentified armed assailants riding on motor bike in different part of the country. All most all the time shooter get away from the scene and there is no clue. I know for sure that riding two on a motor cycle can do the killing because one person riding the motorcycle can not, therefore if riding two men on any motorcycle should be prohibited will reduce this type of crime in a big way. This law must enforce in the cities where these types of crimes on the rise, such as Karachi, Quetta and Peshawar.

USA Good suggestion; although it will be difficult to enforce for the simple reason that motorcycles are used as the primary source of transportation for families, it is common to see 3 to 4 persons on a motorcycle, may be two young adults ages 25 t0 25 can be disallowed. Terrorism and crimes can be solved easily; US with all the money has a very high crime crate; perfect example is south side of Chicago. Crimes have a direct correlation to economics, education, religious fervor, etc; not easy to control but you must start somewhere.
