ISLAMABAD: A constable of the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of the capital police has been missing for about two weeks.

The police have registered a kidnapping case against unidentified people and started an investigation to trace the official.

Sources in the police said the ATS official went missing on September 23 but his disappearance was brought into the notice of the police when his elder brother registered a complaint on October 2.

Ali Ahmed was stationed at Rescue-15 and lived at the ATS barracks.

He had returned to the capital after spending holidays in his native town of Sahiwal on September 20.

At around 3pm the next day, senior officials at Rescue-15 called the constable, asking him to report on duty but he did not show up. Later, his supervisory officer started marking him absent.

On Oct 2, Liaqat Ali, the elder brother of the constable, approached the police and lodged a complaint about his disappearance.

The complainant said Ahmed remained in contact with the family till September 22 after which there was no response from him.

The family contacted all friends of the constable and tried to trace his whereabouts but remained unsuccessful.

The complainant said the family had no enmity with anyone in their native town. He suspected that someone in Islamabad had abducted his brother.

The police said the constable’s last presence was traced to Saddar Rawalpindi on September 23.
