TOBA TEK SINGH: Scores of villagers demonstrated on Kamalia-Chichwatni Road outside the clinic of a doctor for his alleged negligence which caused the death a newborn baby on Friday.

Sajid Farooq of Chak 189-GB (Patli) told reporters that he brought his wife to the clinic of Dr Muhammad Idrees for a delivery case. After getting her ultrasound, he said the doctor told him his wife developed some complications and needed a cesarean section.

He said he left the clinic to arrange Rs10,000 as advance fee. Upon his return, he learnt that the C-section was conducted and the baby was in serious condition.

Dr Idrees asked him to shift the baby to the DHQ Hospital where he died after a few minutes. He demanded inquiry against the doctor and also get his MBBS degree verified.

The protesters dispersed when SHO Nadeem Jat assured them that a case would be registered against the doctor.

ROAD BLOCKED: Villagers blocked Gojra-Faisalabad Road for about two hours by placing the body of a cable network owner who was murdered in Gojra on Friday.

The protesters demanded the arrest of all the five killers.

Police said there was a dispute between Ismaar Javed of Chak 279-JB (Darapur) and his opponent Muhammad Nawaz of Chak 361-JB over the cable network issue.

They said accused Nawaz and his accomplices Tariq Masih, Muhammad Adnan, Muhammad Saqlain and Muhammad Ashfaq shot and injured Javed near Chak 282-JB when he was going to appear in a court on his bike. He was shifted to Allied Hospital, Faisalabad, where he died.

Gojra Saddar police have registered a case and are conducting raids to arrest the accused.

SUICIDE BID: An under-trial prisoner attempted to commit suicide in the lock-up at Gojra on Friday.

Police said accused Nasir Mahmood was on physical remand in a dacoity case.

He was admitted to the THQ Hospital while police registered a case against him.
