PESHAWAR: Provincial president of PML-N Pir Sabir Shah has asked his party workers to break their silence, reject those trying to create rifts and work for reorganisation of the party.

He was speaking at a convention of the party office-bearers belonging to various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Federally Administered Tribal Areas at the party secretariat here on Thursday.

“I have spent 22 years of my life in Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and will serve it till end under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif,” he resolved and urged the workers to organise conventions in their respective areas to reactivate the party people and enable it to form government in the province in future.

The basic purpose of the meeting, he said, was to devise a plan for bringing all senior people to the fore to make them realise that they were the real asset of PML-N. He said that time servers with vested interests had no value in the party.

Later, Mr Shah also addressed a press conference and said that workers had decided to support the people who rendered sacrifices during the regime of former dictator Pervez Musharraf. He asked the workers to discourage people using the party platform for their personal interests.

Mr Shah criticised the provincial government and described it a total failure. He said that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf got the power with an agenda of change, but failed to bring any change in the fate of people.

He said that the credit went to PML-N that initiated mega projects in the country and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor was one of them. He claimed that the federal government had been playing a vital role in controlling unemployment, poverty and price hike in the country.

Asked whether he would work under the leadership of Amir Muqam if he was made provincial president, Mr Shah said that he expected the top leadership would take decisions on the basis of merit. He said that Mr Muqam had never invited him to his public meetings held in Peshawar otherwise he would have participated.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa PML-N president condemned Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for their anti-Pakistan remarks. He demanded of the government to register a sedition case against the MQM chief and hang him to send a strong warning to rest of the anti-state elements.

A number of senior leaders, including MPAs, also attended the meeting and shared views for removal of differences in the party. They included Malik Jahanzeb, Nisar Khan Wardag, Waqif Khan, Arbab Khizar Hayat, Abdul Sattar Khalil, Rehmat Salam Khattak and Sardar Nalotha.

They opposed groupings in the party and urged the top leadership to play due role in its reorganisation to ensue winning of maximum number of seats in the next general elections.
