LAHORE: The Punjab government has regularised 52,000 workers, including LHWs, lady health supervisors (LHSs), account supervisors, drivers, etc, of the National Programme for Family Planning (Lady Health Workers Programme).

Regularisation orders have been issued which will be implemented from July 2012 and the Punjab Civil Servant Act 1974 will be applicable on them, said a handout issued here on Thursday.

Adviser to Chief Minister on Health Khwaja Salman Rafique distributed regularization orders among office bearers of the Lady Health Workers Association, Punjab, including its president Rukhsana Anwer.

Primary and Secondary Health secretary Ali Jan Khan, DG (Health) Dr Mukhtar Husain Syed, Additional DG (Health) IRMNCH programme Dr Nusrat Jabeen, Additional Secretary (Health) Adnan Zafar and other officers were present.

Appreciating the services of LHWs, Mr Rafique said that lady health workers were playing a pivotal role in spreading health education in the community and promoting prevention programme.

He said that LHWs were a big source of promoting the mother and child health programme.

He said he hoped that, after getting regularization orders, the LHWs would perform their duties with more dedication and devotion.

Ali Khan said that their terms and conditions of services would be regulated as per provision of the Punjab Civil Servant Act 1974.

He said that regularization orders would be issued to individual employees in accordance with the Act by the respective appointing authorities.
