LAHORE: The journalist bodies, some politicians and lawyers have demanded immediate ban on MQM and asked the federal government to write to the British government for extradition of Altaf Hussain.

In a joint declaration at a seminar on ‘why media is target of extremism’ held at the Press Club here on Wednesday, the participants also demanded that those involved in attack on media houses in Karachi should be tried under the anti-terrorism act.

The declaration also demanded protection to journalists and compensation to martyred journalists’ families on the pattern of police and army martyrs. It demanded registration of a treason case against Altaf Hussain.

PTI’s Chaudhry Sarwar, Supreme Court Bar Association President Ali Zafar, Jamaat-i-Islami’s Ameerul Azeem and office-bearers of Lahore Press Club, Punjab Union of Journalist, senior journalists and anchors spoke.
