KHAR: Four people were killed and six others injured when lightning struck an area in Salarzai tehsil late on Sunday evening.

Political administration officials said the incident took place in Adad Banda area along the Bajaur-Lower Dir border, some 38kms from the agency headquarters, Khar.

According to officials those died and wounded in the incident were the volunteers of a local peace committee, who were busy in construction of a post in the area.

Officials and local people said at least 17 people were present at the post when the lightning struck. However, other volunteers remained unhurt.

Security personnel immediately rushed to the spot and started rescue work, shifting the injured to the agency headquarters hospital where condition of the two wounded was stated to be out of danger.

Kashif Khan and Inam Khan were among the dead.

However, names of other two deceased and the injured could not be ascertained till filing of this report.
