SHIKARPUR: Pakistan Muslim League-Functional MNA Ghous Bakhsh Mahar has demanded the Sindh government allow Rangers to launch an operation against criminals and anti-social elements in the interior of the province like the paramilitary force did in Karachi.

It was impossible for police to restore peace without Rangers help as Sindh police had miserably failed to protect life, honour and property of citizens because of incessant political interference in their duty, he said.

He said at a meet the press programme at Shikarpur Press Club on Thursday that people of Sindh had reposed confidence in Pakistan Peoples Party with hope the party would serve them well and resolve the issues of law and order, corruption, price hike etc but instead they were made to suffer under bad governance of Syed Qaim Ali Shah.

He said that major cause of Qaim Ali Shah’s failure was political interference by party leadership and other influential party men. The chief minister could not exercise his powers to change the fate of people, he said.

Mr Mahar said the change of the chief minister was a message for people that the PPP now wanted to improve governance and serve masses.

He declined to pass any comment on the newly-appointed chief minister and hoped he would prove himself worthy of the high office if he was given a freehand to fix all issues.

About the appointment of four members of Election Commission of Pakistan, Mr Mahar said that he hoped they would fulfill their responsibilities and opined that serving judges should be made members of ECP to run election affairs in a smooth manner.
