TAXILA: Heads of three different schools of Taxila tehsil would face action under Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability Act 2006 for highest dropout rate exceeding 60pc in secondary classes.

The schools head that will face music include Mohammad Riaz of Government Boys High School, Lub Thatoo (81.63pc dropout rate), Attqiueur Rehman of of Governemnt Boys High School Wanni (80pc) and Shafeequr Rehman of Government boys high School Taxila city (59. 97pc).

An official of district education department told this reporter that show cause notices to the schools head had been issued and further departmental action would also be initiated.

According to a local NGO, Pakistan has the highest school dropout rate in world which contributes to low literacy rate in country. The NGO blamed lack of facilities, paucity of staff and corporal punishment for the highest dropout rate.
