KARACHI: The Sindh Building Control Authority’s technical committee for hazardous buildings on Monday declared as many as 316 buildings dangerous in the city owing to their dilapidated basic structures.

In a statement, the SBCA said it had also got 38 hazardous buildings vacated, 17 of which were vacated completely while 17 others were partly vacated and four had been declared national heritage.

The SBCA’s committee is also conducting a survey of buildings in the city on directives of SBCA director general Noor Muhammad Leghari.

Of these 316 hazardous declared buildings, 51 were among the buildings which had been declared national heritage.

The SCBA had also launched a campaign to warn the inhabitants through notices, as well as announcements from mobile vans, to vacate the hazardous buildings .

People have also been asked to identify hazardous buildings and inform the SBCA about them on its phone 021-99232354.
