KARAK: A man killed his young son after the latter shot and injured family members over a domestic issue on Monday night.

Gul Sahib Shah, a retired schoolteacher, complained to the police that his 33-year-old son, Shahid Siraj, opened fire at him and his sister Naila Naz and niece Alya over a domestic issue and thus, injuring them.

He added that he killed his son by returning fire.

The complainant said the injured were shifted to a nearby hospital, where their condition was stated to be stable.

He insisted the killer was mentally unstable and had issued death threats to him on many occasion.

The police said they had registered the case before beginning investigation into the incident.

ACCIDENT CLAIMS LIFE: A motorcyclist was run over and killed by a speeding oil tanker at Fateh Sheri Chowk on the Indus Highway here on Monday night.

The police said Shahzad was hit by the tanker when he was crossing the highway to go to the mosque to offer Taraweeh prayer. They said the driver escaped after the accident but they had begun search for him after registering a case.

HOSPITAL LACKS FACILITIES: The Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Banda Daud Shah is short of doctors and facilities, complained local residents on Tuesday.

Former union council nazim Attiquallah, former councillor Ishaq Romanullah Khattak and another local resident Furqan Khattak told reporters here that the THQ Hospital established in 1991 had failed to cater to the local population due to acute shortage of doctors and facilities.

They also said the hospital building was in a shambles due to poor maintenance.

They demanded the immediate appointment of staff especially doctors to the hospital besides provision of facilities and equipment.
