BANNU: Bannu police on Sunday foiled a sabotage attempt by recovering explosives and other bomb-making material hidden in a drum here.

The personnel of police and the bomb disposal unit reached the spot after a tip-off, and found that suspected miscreants had hid two kilogramme explosives, four hand grenades, 15 plates, 10 detonators, five cells, phones and other material in an empty drum along a riverbank in the limits of Ghoriwala police station.

Police officials said explosives were meant to carry out sabotage activities on the occasion of Eidul Fitr, but the timely action by the police and bomb disposal unit personnel thwarted the terrorists bid.
