PESHAWAR: Deputy Commissioner, Peshawar, Riaz Mehsud has asked all private schools operating in the provincial capital not to charge fee in advance from students during the upcoming summer vacations.

A statement issued here quoted Mr Mehsud as saying that private school owners could not receive payments other than tuition fee from the students.

He said that no private school would be allowed to increase its fee on its own from now on. He said that for any increase in the fee the schools had to get permission from the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Peshawar, and the consumer protection association.

Mr Mehsud said that they were receiving complaints from parents about the private schools. Additional deputy commissioner Irshad Sodhar also chaired a meeting in this regard.

The statement said that the meeting was attended by representatives of the Peshawar board, consumer protection association and parents. It decided that private schools would not be allowed to receive fees other than tuition fee during summer vacations.
