TIMERGARA: Two persons were killed and one was injured when a pickup truck loaded with chickens fell into a ravine at Ziarat Talash early on Saturday.

The vehicle bound for Upper Dir went out of the driver’s control due to over-speeding and fell into a ravine, officials at Talash police station told Dawn.

Driver Badshah Ghani, 26, of Bandagai Talash, and Tahir Mehmood, 25, of Panakot Upper Dir, died on way to hospital, while Amir Rehman, 30, a resident of Kalpani Talash was injured in the incident.

The injured was shifted to the DHQ hospital, Timergara, where his condition was stated to be out of danger. More than 900 chickens were also killed in the accident.

Meanwhile, a man reportedly killed his wife at Daman village of Manyal Maidan over unknown reasons.

The Lal Qila police registered a case and began investigations. A police official said that Afsarullah opened fire on his wife, Shamaila, killing her on the spot. The accused escaped the scene, while police registered a case and began search for him.

POWER OUTAGE: Residents of Maidan on Saturday demanded of the government to decrease duration of power outage on Maidan feeder.

Talking to reporters, the Maidan elders said they had 20 hours of power outage daily. The residents said due to prolonged outage, women had to fetch water from distant places. They said business activities had come to a halt due extended power suspensions.
