RAWALPINDI: A schoolteacher was kidnapped from his home near Government Postgraduate College Asghar Mall, the police said on Wednesday.

The 32-year-old schoolteacher, the son of a local prayer leader, was having a meal at his home last Thursday when the doorbell rang, which was answered by a young girl. The unidentified visitor asked for the schoolteacher and said he wanted to meet him, according to the police.

In the FIR that he lodged with the Banni police, the father of the victim said that when his son went out to see who was at the door, he was overpowered by masked men in black clothes outside the house.

They pushed the schoolteacher into a car and drove away, the victim’s father told the police. The family then tried searching for the victim themselves, failing which they lodged a complaint with the police on Tuesday.

The police said that the kidnappers have not yet made contact with the family.
