Hazara University closed for two days ahead of Nawaz Sharif's visit

ISLAMABAD: Hazara University in Mansehra District has been closed for two days ahead of the prime minister’s visit to the area on April 28, it has been learnt.

A notification to this regard was issued by Registrar Establishment-I, a copy of which is available with Dawn.com, announcing the closure of university on April 27-28, 2016.

In the notification it’s mentioned that Boys Hostel should be vacated by 4pm on Wednesday, April 27. It also said that residents of Girls Hostel should remain limited to their building from Wednesday’s evening till Thursday’s evening.

However, the notification states that university offices will remain open during the mentioned days.

The bomb disposal squad has also been called in to check the university premises before the premier’s visit.

It is pertinent to mention that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will address a public gathering at the university on Thursday (tomorrow).

It is surprising that the University is closed down to make the arrangements for the security of the PM. But hundreds of students go there without this kind of security. Why can’t the same security be provided to the students?

It only happens in third world that university premises will be used for political mileage Hazara people should boycott as this act is against educational policy. PM can only visit university if he wants to discuss educational issues of university without closing it. Shameful act

I believe Hazara Uni is under KP province due restriction. The PTI has announced end to VIP culture. If they are serious about this policy then they must step in to stop closing the Uni for two days before the PM visit. If the dean of Uni over step his authority he should be relieve from his duty. Nothing like that can be imagine in other country.

Is this Democracy ...Uni is closed when a VIP is coming ... sports matches are stopped when helicopters land in the grounds ... this is not possible in any civilised / semi-civilised country. Hope some day this public will stand up for their fundamental rights.

And the claim is we are making progress. How on earth can a place of learning be shut and how can an academic loss of two days for whole body of students be justified for one person even if he/she be the holder of the highest public office. Something is seriously wrong with this picture. Anybody capable of correcting these scenarios out there?

Only in Pakistan you shut down the whole city, close down streets and bridges just because the PM or any other minister is arriving. Do the leaders not realize that its inhumane to put people thru that much misery and make their day long and stressful while you ride thru in your air conditioned car?

This should not be surprise. When pope visited border town of Juarez, Mexico, the colleges and university of El P aso, TX , USA were closed to facilitates students to go and listen to pope's sermon.

So who is going to arrange for and provide accommodation for the residents of the Boy's Hostel? I doubt anything is going to be done, but if so is Nawaz gonna pay out of his pocket or is he gonna get the Government of Pakistan to pay and use the meager amount of tax collected?
