GHALANAI/PESHAWAR: Two khasadar officials were injured in an improvised explosive device blast in Safi tehsil of Mohmand Agency on Monday, officials said.

Tehsildar Safi tehsil Miraj Khan said khasadar personnel were on a routine patrol in Chamarkand area when an IED exploded resulting in injuries to two personnel.

The injured identified as Waheed Khan and Ikram Khan were shifted to Nawagi hospital.

Security forces conducted a search operation in the nearby areas after the incident, but no arrests were made.

It merits a mention here that security is on high alert in the areas along the Pak-Afghan border. Five IEDs have been exploded while as many been defused by security forces during the current week.

Owing to the bad law and order situation in the area, a curfew has been imposed in Dawezai, Sagi and some border areas of the tribal region.

In Peshawar, Bomb Disposal Unit on Tuesday foiled a terror bid and defused an explosive device weighing around 10 kilogrammes in the limits of Sarband police station.

Police said the bomb was planted close to Manzoor Shaheed police checkpost. The police officials alerted the BDU about the bomb who defused the explosive device stored in a pressure-cooker.

Police registered an FIR and began investigations.
