SIALKOT: An anti-corruption court judge handed down on Saturday two years rigorous imprisonment to Muhammad Akram, Shamas Din, Ilam Din and Patwari Muhammad Ashraf with a fine of Rs40,000 each in a 10-year-old fraud case.

Patwari Ashraf had transferred the 124 kanals of Khalid Rehman Butt to Akram, Ilam Din and Shamas Din on fake documents on August 22, 2005 in Sialkot.

Judge Raja Ikhlaq Hussain acquitted Tehsildar Muhammad Muneer Cheema of the charge.

Also, the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) arrested Muhammad Ashfaq, Pasrur deputy district officer (DDO) of education, while taking bribe from a schoolteacher.

Gujranwala Division ACE Director Rana Abdul Shakur said they seized Rs30,000 from DDO Muhammad Ashfaq which he had received from teacher Arshad Anjum near the Government Jamia High School, Sialkot, as bribe for favoring him in a departmental inquiry.

FIA: People of Gujranwala division have to travel to Lahore for cyber crime related cases as the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in Gujranwala has no official power to register such cases.

They have urged the FIA to authorise the Gujranwala officials to also register cyber crime related cases.

FIA Deputy Director Chaudhry Khalid Anees said they had conveyed the demand of the people to senior officials.
