PESHAWAR: A student of grade seven, allegedly committed suicide at the premises of a private school in the outskirts of Peshawar on Saturday.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Police DSP Sajjad confirmed to DawnNews that the student committed suicide inside the school, which is situated in Gul Bela area of the provincial capital.
"The student had brought a handgun to school which was concealed in his school bag," added the police official.

The child's body was shifted to Lady Reading Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Initial reports suggested that the child had committed suicide as he was depressed because of problems faced at home.
Pakistan has witnessed similar cases in the past in which students have committed suicide with in their school premises.

We need psychologists at educational institutions for helping such cases and even awareness about the psychological health should be parted to the families for handling such situations at home to save the lives...

Very sad to hear the death of a child by suicide. He came to school as his last refuge, but alas, got no mental help. We pray for him and his family.

@Ahmed bin Babar govt should provide huge and rapid incentives and set up clinical psychologist emergency centers , and force people and parents to attend or at least set up hot lines at district levels at least.
where will qualified people come from? that is the question. just because some girl or boy has done MA pyschology from some college and uni does NOT make them qualified clinical psychologist. they need 2 years work experience in practical field minimum to treat people , in their specialized treatment areas e.g. couples , abuse drug addiction etc.

The kids of India and Pakistan face unreasonable amount of competition and pressure with their peers. In such circumstances if they don't get support from the family, they are alone in it. Poor kid with the gun in his bag decided to kill himself but not harm anyone else, unlike the developed geography we aspire to become.

Pressurizing kids on sake of studies is a common practice in Pakistan and many a parents punish too for improving kids grades...as a result some kids get psychological very low n commit such acts which costs their life..

Our education system is producing mentally sick person because there is no learning but a race of getting marks...
And we are unable to cater basic needs of our children.Apart from that a lot many problems regarding gas ,electricity ,all have made our chikdren sick.
I really salute each and every child of Pakistan for surviving in such hard times
