TIMERGARA: Convener of Lower Dir district council, Abdul Rashid, postponed the council meeting on Wednesday as majority of the councillors did not turn up to attend the session.

District nazim Mohammad Rasool Khan had convened a three-day session to review progress of the government departments, but majority of the councillors did not turn up.

Talking to media persons, Mr Rashid said that in fact the councillors were disappointed because their passed resolutions were not being honoured. He said that they were also complaining that they had no powers and offices.

Councillor Fazal Qadir said that the government had been making tall claims about devolution of powers, but actually the local government had no powers.

Meanwhile, the district nazim said that his government has planned to resolve the traffic problems in Timergara and adjacent areas.

Talking to media persons here on Wednesday, he said that the authorities of NHA, irrigation and works department had been asked to devise a plan for protecting farmlands on the bank of Panjkora river while constructing a road.

He said that the district government and administration had taken notice of the routine traffic jam in Timergara and other cities of the district and soon the problem would be resolved.

The nazim said that three bridges would be built on Balambat-Khazana road to help ease traffic.
