Shireen Mazari defends daughter’s choice to vote rival PML-N in LG polls

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Central Information Secretary Shireen Mazari on Monday hit back at critics who she said trolled her over her daughter's decision to vote for rival PML-N in today's local body election.

Mazari took to Twitter to defend herself and her daughter, after the two faced criticism on micro-blogging website Twitter. The uproar followed her daughter Iman Hazir's tweet announcing her vote in favour of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz.

The PTI information secretary said her association with PTI does not obligate her family to vote for the parry and added that "democracy means free choice".

Mazari's tweet came soon after her daughter said she had voted "minorities and PML-N".

This is not the first time Ms Hazir has faced abuse on social media. Earlier this month she had tweeted in favour of National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq of the PML-N.

Hazir went on to say that she has been critical of the PML-N but was never abused by party supporters. She added that PML-N supporters have not abused her mother, who belongs to rival PTI, either.

Well they are all power hungry. One in one party the other in another, that is not unusual. Like Mr. Assad Omer in PTI enjoying all the benefits and his brother is enjoying all the perks by remaining in PML-N, the examples can go on. This is how they play with people, don't leave the perks no matter what, that is why they are so successful. They are not interested in people's well being.I wonder when we the common people will understand it.

Salute Mrs Mazari and her daughter for voting according to their belief system. Though I am quite lberal Will cross over to republicans at times. My daughter a very liberal person wouldnot do that. She is entitled to live her life way she wants.

PTI is just another political party now. Controlled and run by multimillionaires of varying degrees of corrupt past to show for. I fail to understand how the regular jiyalays of PTI fail to see this. She knows the importance of media and tries her best to tell other about the choices she makes everyday. She irritates PTI followers and then promotes the backlash. Why she pretends that she did not expect the backlash. She even uses her's status to attract this cheap popularity, or she might be asking some attention from ruling PMLn to prize her for this service. Shireen Mazari should also learn to keep herself aloof from such predetermined design of her daughter or if she( shireen) says i don't know about her desires then I am telling her this what are her plans. She should act as mature parliamentarian and act as the spokesperson of PTI not her daughter. Media doesn't recognize their relationships of mother/daughter. They are just two individuals where young mazari has consciously big mazari.

People like Sheereen Mazari are PTIs biggest enemy. People like her are chief distroyers of PTI. I still remember she ran a campaign of elegations against PTI and IK when she did not got what she wanted from the party even then she was welcomed and given responsibilities. As usual PTI and IK won't learn from their mistakes. Hence I don't feel sorry for them. PTI is getting what it deserves.

She is free to vote like anyone and convince others for her choice. What is the big issue here? We all do this. If she is the child of some politician that does not mean she can't speak for herself. Having said that it's not new that one person in a family runs in elections as a candidate for the ruling party and another for opposition party. This is just politics. Take it lightly.

Imaan has her own thoughts and choices,but it's easy to understand there are less deliberations between mom and daughter,mom do not discuss about massive-corruptions and wrongs doings of PML(N) & PPP.Imaan being young & enthusiastic go for cosmetic appearance and as Ayaz Saddiq is handsome he just congrats him,Similiarly tomorrow if Yousuf Raza Gillani won,she will again click "like"because he's famous for his expensive suits,so it's all OK.

My family has always been a supporter of PPP because we support its ideology in the past it might change in future, however when it comes to local body elections it is a horse of a different color.... This elections when visiting Pakistan i supported someone who belongs to PMI (Q) candidate, and infact i felt he wasnt financially strong enough so i called him and asked him what he needed for his campaign, it was taken care of and he ended up winning... I supported him because i believe in that one guy... he is good for his community no matter which party he belongs to....

In a democracy we go by our own ideals not by our parents ideals. My folks are secular and pro PPP but that didnt stop me from casting my balot for PTI, which won in my home province of KPK. We must be independent minded. If Mazari's daughter opted for another party, she exercised her democratic right. If PML-N doesnt fault and fumble and outperforms the others they'll have my vote too. Merit matters, not slogans. That is real democracy.
