KARACHI: The Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) on Wednesday revived its cricket team after a span of more than two decades by conducting open trials at the Rashid Latif Cricket Academy in Gulberg.

Trials, organized by KMC’s Culture, Sports and Recreation (CSR) department, were conducted under the supervision of ex-Test batsman Azam Khan and former first-class player Zafar Ahmed before a 21-member squad was selected More than 70 KMC employees belonged to the various departments appeared in the trials which were witnessed by CSR senior director Syed Raza Abbas Rizvi, who has been personally behind the revival of KMC cricket team in a drive to promote sporting activities in the city.

Speaking on the occasion, Raza said the KMC will be competing in inter-departmental competitions while adding a transparent process was followed to pick the squad on merit.

Akhtar Hussain, Naeem Yousuf, Mohammad Shakeel, Mohammad Ismail, Farrukh Rizvi, Fariduddin, Mohammad Raza, Mohammad Ijaz Taj.
