VEHARI: COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) Rector Dr Junaid Zaidi urged students, parents and politicians to work jointly to bring the country out of the energy and economic crises it was faced with.

He said this while addressing at the 80th convocation of CIIT’s campus here on Saturday. A total of 137 graduates and undergraduates were awarded degrees at the convocations and the best received medals and certificates. Five students received gold medals and five silver.

Dr Zaidi said the new graduates had received the best education and they should get a job on merit and not rely on recommendations. He advised students to utilise all energies for the betterment of the country.

Addressing on the occasion, Vehari campus Director Dr Khairuz Zaman said the graduates were the future of this nation and believed they would prove to be assets for the nation. Everything they had learnt would help them in their practical lives, “so I am confident that this institution has provided you with a competitive and healthy learning environment to become valuable, active and responsible citizens who are going to play a substantial role in development” of Pakistan.

MNA Tehmina Daultana said a medical college would be established in Vehari for which the DHQ Hospital had been upgraded from 150 to 450 beds. She said the medical college would help provide best health facilities to locals.

Later, degrees, awards and medals were distributed among the position holders.

SAHIWAL: A total of 270 graduate and undergraduate students were awarded degrees and distinction certificates at the 81st convocation of CIIT, Sahiwal campus on Saturday.

Around 16 students were also awarded shields for taking positions in their respective academic disciplines.

Pakistan Engineering Council Chairman Javed Saleem Qureshi and CIIT Rector Dr Zaidi distributed degrees and awards among students.
