MANSEHRA: Federal Minister for Hajj and Religious Affairs Sardar Mohammad Yousaf has said the PML-N-led district government in Mansehra would give top priority to the promotion of education sector.

“The time is not far when Mansehra will turn out to be a role model in education for other districts in the province,” he told a Jinnah Basic School and College function attended by students and parents on Thursday night.

The function was held to honour the college’s three students for shinning in the recent FSc examination.

The minister said no society could progress until it educated all of its children. He said the PML-N district government would use all its energies to increase literacy rate and bring every child to school.

“The district government will take every child to school and bring the dropout rate to zero,” he said.

Yousaf said services of the teachers of government schools would be regularised, while they would be held accountable for their performance.

He said until the people were educated and knew about their rights, the country would continue to lag behind.

“Our government is giving top priority to the promotion of education,” he said.

The minister said the government and communities should work together for the promotion of education.

He said an educational convention would soon be called to discuss flaws in the current education system.

“Educationists from across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be invited to the event to share ideas on how to ensure provision of purpose-based education to children,” he said.

Yousaf said Swabi had the highest literacy rate in the province but Mansehra would achieve the distinction soon.

He said Karachi operation and Zarb-i-Hazb operation would continue until its objective of restoring peace was achieved.

“We have suffered large casualties and huge financial losses both in Karachi and Fata but will ensure restoration of peace in the country,” he said.

The principal praised high-achievers for doing the college proud.

College principal Fayyaz Ahmad, administrator Faraiz Swati, district nazim Said Ghulam and tehsil nazim Khurram Khan also spoke on the occasion.
