KARACHI: A young female schoolteacher kidnapped from her school in PIB Colony on Wednesday morning was found murdered some hours later in the Korangi Industrial Area, police said.

They also claimed to have found ‘significant clues’ to the identity of the killers and picked up one of the suspected kidnappers.

The trussed-up body of the 26-year-old teacher, Quratul Ain, was found in Allahwala Town of Korangi hours after she had been ‘taken away’ from the private school, said Landhi SP Afnan Amin.

The body was brought to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem examination, said Dr Seemin Jamali, head of the JPMC emergency department. She said there were ‘bruises’ on the body. However, she added, cause of her death was reserved by a lady medico-legal officer who sent samples for a chemical examination.

Gulshan SP Abid Qaimkhani said the family reported at the PIB police station that their daughter had been missing from the private school since 7:30am.

The officer said footage obtained from CCTV cameras at the school showed that a girl, Fizza, along with her friend, Sakina, arrived at the school in the morning along with a man, identified as Baqar. They took her to a ‘rest house’ near Saudi consulate in Defence in a car, as footage of another CCTV camera installed there showed Fizza along with Baqar and Quratul Ain getting out of the car and entering the rest house.

Sakina was later seen leaving the place in the same car, the SP said.

Later, he added, the girl’s body with her hands and legs tied was found in Korangi.

The SP said the police detained Fizza and fiancé of the victim, Manzar.

“Initial probe suggested that Fizza had hatched a plan to kill Quratul Ain to marry her friend, Manzar,” said the Gulshan SP.

The suspected kidnapper, Fizza, sought Sakina’s help, as she knew that the victim would be reluctant to go along with her while Sakina was a friend of the teacher.

SP Qaimkhani said Fizza took away Quratul Ain with the ‘promise’ that she would help her in removing any ‘misunderstanding’ between her and her fiancé.

The officer said the police set up another investigation team to ascertain if she was ‘tortured and killed’ in the rest house before her body was dumped in Korangi.
