TIMERGARA: Jamaat-i-Islami MNA Aisha Syed said on Tuesday that she had apprised the prime minister’s adviser for polio programme Senator Ayesha Raza Farooq of the grievances and problems of lady health workers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Talking to this correspondent on phone, the MNA said that on the one hand the government was making claims of eradicating the crippling polio disease, on the other the low paid LHWs had not been paid their salaries for the last three months.

She said that the Senator had promised to convey her message to the prime minister. Quoting the Senator, she said that the director general health, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, would be contacted to address the LHWs’ grievances.

The MNA also demanded of the provincial government to approve service structure for LHWs.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL: Noorakhel Talash Club beat the Chakdara volleyball club in the final to lift the trophy of Jwandoon women volleyball tournament at Mina Bhattan Ouch here on Tuesday.

The Right to Play, an NGO, had organised the tournament in collaboration with the Unicef under its social cohesion and resilience project for Lower Dir.

A total of 14 under-17 girls’ volleyball teams from seven union councils of the district participated in the event. The Right to Play’s district coordinator Jamshid Khan and assistant district officer Ms Shabnum were present on the final day.

EDUCATION SERVICES: The managing director of Continents Education Services (CES), Chakdara, Bahre Ihsan has said that educated youth needed proper guidance for getting higher education abroad.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the CES office at Chakdara, he said that students and qualified youth had a great potential, but they lacked proper guidance.

The function was attended by elders, students and teachers.

He said that they would provide proper guidance to the university students about their future planning and education opportunities abroad.

HONOURED: Acting district police officer, Lower Dir, Tahir Rehman visited Shamshi Khan Talash on Tuesday and presented a salute at the grave of Elite police trainee Hidayatullah who had died during training at the Nowshera training centre on Aug 19.

Local police officials and elders of the Talash Dushkhel Qaumi Jirga, including Mohammad Ibrahim, were also present on the occasion.

The DPO said that the inspector general of police had announced Rs1 million for the family of Hidayatullah.

He said that a committee comprising DIG Mardan and other high officials were looking into the incident in which two cops had died during their training at the police training centre in Nowshera.
