THE fishermen of Mubarak village cannot live without their lanterns. The reason, people have to light their lanterns at night because there is no electricity in the village. Mubarak village is located approximately 30 km from Karachi.
The government had started a project to provide electricity to the village in 2009 but work has stopped without the project being completed.
There are two large electricity-generating power stations located very close to the village that provide electricity to the city but they seem to have no supply for the village.
The villagers appeal to the government to complete the power supply project and light up their homes.
