PM Nawaz directs Punjab Govt to ensure implementation of NAP

LAHORE: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday directed the Punjab government to adhere to the National Action Plan (NAP) and ensure its implementation, said a report published on Radio Pakistan.

While chairing a meeting in Raiwind — which was attended by Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and Inspector General Punjab Police among others, — the premier was also briefed in detail on the measures taken in order to implement the NAP in Punjab.

Earlier on Friday, PM Nawaz chaired another meeting to review the internal security situation in the country and implementation of the NAP.

The meeting was held at Prime Minister House and attended by Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Federal Minister for Finance Senator Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, Advisor on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi and other high-ranking officials.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif constituted a special committee for the implementation of the National Action Plan for counter-terrorism in December, 2014, in the wake of the Army Public School attack in Peshawar to chalk out a comprehensive strategy to combat terrorism.
